Walla Walla

Ok, so last week was crazy! lol I didn't get a p-day because I left the MTC on Tuesday and p-day in the field is on Monday! So I had A LOTof laundry to do today! WA is great! It is SO WINDY!!!!! More windy than home. I don't like it when I have to wear a skirt/dress all the time! I am in Walla Walla/College Place for my first transfer. We are in charge of Walla Walla 2nd Ward and the Walla Walla 4th YSA (Young Single Adult) branch. There are lots of members here but the YSA branch is so much smaller than the one back home. There were like 20 people tops in Sacrament meeting yesterday! lol In the 2nd ward, it's a normal OK sized ward.

One of our investigators Lino came to church and he is planning on being baptized on March 10th, please keep him in your prayers. Another one of our investigators was supposed to come but it snowed lightly on Sunday and she is pretty old so she couldn't make it. We got to teach the MiaMaids (14-15 year old young women) at church and that was so much fun! We taught them how to gain a testimony, why we need to share it, how to keep it strong, and the blessings it brings to our lives and the lives of others.

The members are great up here in WA! We have dinner every night with a member/s and they feed us very well! I NEED to be careful because I know that if I am not, then I will gain a ton of weight and I don't want that to happen! I can already tell that I have gained a little in the past 3.5 weeks. Can you believe that it has already been that long? It doesn't feel like that to me!

I am so happy with my trainer/companion. Her name is Sister Whitnie Chatwin and she is from St. George UT. She is wonderful! She is going home in June, which is super soon! She is with me for two transfers and then, she only has one transfer left and then she goes home! In the field we talk in time of transfers which is 6 weeks.... and I think its funny. Here we call our trainers Mom and then whoever trained them is our grandma and if our mom trained someone else then we have sisters. So, I have one sister and a mom and a grandma all in the field. Sister Chatwin talks about her former companions all the time and how much she loves and misses them. I know that I will miss her just as much. Being so close to someone for 12 weeks is a long time and then to not be with them after that is super hard.

Anyway, I live in an apartment. It's not too bad. Apparently we are only the 3rd set of sisters in this area so Elders had it before us and the 1st set of sisters had a lot of cleaning to do after they moved in. We have a washer and dryer in the apartment too so that is really nice!

On Saturday we had Elder Craig A. Cardon from the Second Quorum of the Seventy come and speak to our mission. He was amazing! I got to be the first one that shook his hand and we got to shake hands twice! Hopefully we get a lot more General Authorities! They are so amazing to listen to and learn from. I have started to read the Book of Mormon again. It's amazing how being a missionary just opens up my eyes to insights that I have never received from the gospel before! I can't tell you how many things just make more sense since my mission.

I am sad to not be in the MTC with all my people anymore but I am meeting so many new people and everyone is fantastic. I will try to respond with hand written letters to as many people as possible. Please send all mail to the mission home in Kennewick and they will forward it on to me in Walla Walla! It only takes one extra day usually. I love President and Sister Greer so much! They are the best mission president/sister I could ask for! They made me feel at home the instant I got off the plane.

I am almost out of time, so I love you and I miss you and I think about home probably a lot more than I should but it will all be ok! The mission is awesome! The Gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored and we need to share that message with EVERYONE! Heavenly Father loves us and he blesses us with so much more than we can ever imagine! Have a wonderful week and I will talk to you again soon!

Love Sister Brox~Hugs!

In Washington

Morgan flew to Washington today and will stay the night in the mission home. She should get assigned to her first area tomorrow. So, no more free letters through dearelder.com. However you can still use their service, you'll just have to pay for postage. Her address in on the right side of the blog.

Second email from MTC

Week 2 has been interesting! We have had some exciting things going on in our little district. We got a new Elder who has some difficulties and because of such we have had a hard time within the district. He leaves at random times because he doesn't want to be in class anymore so he just leaves which means his companion has to follow him. Its been taking a toll on his companion so the Elders have been taking turns leaving and missing out on the lesson. Because of all of this happening and the frustration that comes with it, the Spirit has not been as strong as what would have been hoped! Please keep this Elder in your prayers that he will be able to fulfill his calling as a missionary. He ran away like off campus last night and he was back this morning so I am not sure what all happened, but he really needs prayers right now.

In other exciting news we had the 1st Counselor in the General YW Presidency Sister Cook as our teacher/speaker in Relief Society on Sunday...She did so well and we watched a Mormon messages video about a football team at practice and its storming and all of a sudden lightning strikes and its truly amazing what happens next! You HAVE to go look it up and watch it I am pretty sure that the video is called Sanctify Yourselves and Jeffery R Holland is the one speaking. Anyway, at the end of the video, we had some excitement! A sister on the other side of the room from where I was passed out or something and some priesthood leaders rushed over and gave her a blessing and the EMTs came in and they took her to the hospital. They announced over the pulpit for another sister and as she stood up they said it was her real sister that was having the problem so she ran over there crying and went to the hospital with her sister. They did a whole bunch of tests and they think that she passed out because of a new medication that she was taking, she was back at the MTC the same night and all is well!

Other than those two exciting events nothing too interesting has been happening...The Spirit is so strong here most of the time and I have turned into a little bit of a crier! I cry when I teach our investigators and I share spiritual experiences. All the talks and all the lessons are truly amazing! Sis Hollingshead and I are still going strong! I don't have much time to type, only 30 minutes every p-day and these key boards are ridiculously hard to type on so I am sorry that my emails are so short! I try to write real letters and if I get really letter or letters from dearelder.com then I get them more than once a week which means more time to respond which means more things said! The computer messed up this time also so I don't even know if I got to read all the emails that were sent to me so I am sorry if I do not respond! Ahh... I am out of time! Just know that I love you and I miss you and I want to hear from you! Its so nice to hear from home, no matter what is going on.

Love you Always! Sister Morgan Brox

First E-mail from MTC

HEY!!!!!! So the MTC is AWESOME!!! The Spirit is seriously so strong here! My district is amazing, my branch is amazing, my comp is amazing! In my district we have 5 elders and 4 sisters. We are in branch 53 and we are the only English speaking district in the branch.

Today the Tongan district left to go to the field and it was super sad! BUT all of the other missionaries that know Tongan or Samoan or Figian or Creole or Figian sang them a song as they left and did a native dance. It was so awesome and they were all crying! Our zone leaders are going to New Zealand speaking Samoan so they are teaching us a little bit of the language!

Our roommates are the best sisters ever!!! They are so loving and very welcoming! They are all from UT and they are all going to Chile on their missions so we are learning bits of Spanish from them. We are all one big happy family here!

On the first day (Wednesday) We had orange dots on our name tags and everyone that saw us said, "welcome to the MTC!" It was awesome but I took my "dork dot" off as soon as I could! lol...My companion's name is Sis. Hollingshead. She is from Southern UT a place called Mill Creek by Beaver! We clicked almost instantly! We are both silly and we teach great together! Like I said we are all so close already! I can't believe that we have only been here a week! Time just flys!!!

I have been sick and I didn't really have a voice the first couple of days and I couldn't sleep at night because I couldn't stop talking. We are always in class! Like 95% of the time! So when we get to the residence halls all I want to do is sleep. Ahh! I am running out of time already! I don't have everyones emails with me because I forgot the book in my room! Please forward this to whoever you can think of that would like it! And if they get it more than once then they can get over it I guess...

There are two elders in my district also going to Kennewick. Sis. H is going to Eugene OR...I don't know really what else to say. I have a ton of info but no more time! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write me real letter or on dearelder.com! It stinks having to wait until P-day to read everyones letters! I haven't gotten many real letters and it makes me kinda sad! I love you and I miss you but I KNOW this is where I am supposed to be!

I love our Heavenly Father and I know that this is the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love teaching by the Spirit and being about to share this message with those who are seeking it! There is SOOO much to know about the Gospel and I have barely scratched the surface. I think about you everyday and I hope you do the same! xoxo Sister Morgan Brox
